Fundacion Cristiana Comunitaria para Personas con Discapacidad Ruach
Mission of the organisation
The main purpose of the project is to improve the human rights of people with intellectual disabilities, including the acceptance of and appreciation for people with disabilities in the society in which they live. In addition, the hope is, to send a message that people with disabilities have qualities that add value to our society if we are interested to see them. The Project is deeply inspired by the vision of the international organization 'L'Arche' (The Ark) founded by the French priest Jean Vanier in 1964. The foundation stone of the many Ark communities across the world is the belief expressed in its constitution that: "people with mental disabilities often have the qualities of acceptance, wonder, spontaneity and truth. In their helplessness and fragility, they have the gift to touch hearts and to call for unity. Thus, they are a vivid call to society's essential values of the heart". Expected results Prevention and reduction of physical and psychological abuse and negligence towards people with disabilities over 15 years in the family and community. Stimulation of the skills and gifts of people with disabilities to aid their social integration. Protection and improvement of the wellbeing of 5 particularly deprived people with intellectual disabilities who will be welcomed in a community house with a family atmosphere inspired by the organization The Ark. Protection of the rights of people with intellectual disabilities and being a sign in the society that persons with intellectual disabilities are valuable members with unique gifts and skills.
