Inequalities created by climate change, conflict and COVID-19 threaten the lives of the families we work with. Now more than ever they need the programmes we have developed over 20 years that support every family member. Girls protected from teenage pregnancy so they finish school and have better options in life; boys given tools and direction needed to grow into responsible men; mothers kept safe in pregnancy and childbirth; men and women with life skills for growth and empowerment.

There is a 'lost generation' in Kenya. Thousands of young people who did not return to school after COVID-19 closures. Education breaks the poverty cycle. We are supporting teenage girls who are now mothers to form peer support groups, we are providing training and resources for income generating projects, delivering Life Skills courses, training community ambassadors to deliver sexual & reproductive health workshops to boys and girls. This project needs your help to keep their futures brighter.

Over the past 12 years, a health partnership has developed between Mayo University Hospital in Ireland and Londiani Sub-county Hospital in Kenya. Shared learning exchanges in person and online are building skills and knowledge across both hospital. An operating theatre & maternal health shelter have been built and put into use. Now is your chance to add your support to creating healthier communities & stronger health systems across a population of almost 1 million people in Kericho County.

Clean water is essential for good health. Right now 55% of households across Kericho county, Kenya have to use dirty water from rivers and ponds. Access to clean water and good sanitation is a basic human right. This project will support 2 key areas - protection schemes for 4 natural spring water sources serving 442 households with a population of 2,260 and protecting childrens' health in over 300 schools through provision of rain water harvesting, toilets and handwashing stations.

Despite the good news that vaccines have started to arrive in Kenya, we lack basic necessities and face huge logistical challenges in order for us to get the vaccine safely into the arm. Every day, families across Kericho county, Kenya are risking their health just by getting up and cooking breakfast because their means of cooking is indoors over an open fire. The smoke they inhale leads to serious illness including childhood pneumonia, bronchitis, heart disease. Women & children are especially vulnerable. 3 hours is all the time it takes to turn this around with the installation of a smokeless cooking stove that extracts the smoke and burns more safely and efficiently.

Children do not have access to basic handwashing facilities in school like clean, running water and soap. How can they be protected from COVID-19 transmission when schools don't have these basics? This project supports 300 schools across Kericho county to create a clean, safe environment for children with rain water harvesting, handwashing stations, improved toilets, hygiene education and teacher training. Over 104,000 boys and girls will stay healthy and stay in school.
