Economic Empowerment
United States

This project works with partners across the country to bolster garden programs for communities in need. From school and community gardens to urban gardens and rural ones - we help strengthen food security while connecting people to their community and to their food, from soil to table. By providing quality seed of adapted vegetable varieties and the knowledge needed to successfully grow, use, and even market vegetables, we build food resilience across the USA.

This project will fund seed access and education programs to establish home and community resiliency gardens in Poland. By working with local community groups, we will support vegetable production and community building for Ukrainian refugees and the families and communities that have graciously brought them into their home.

Kenya

School gardens grow vegetables and also grow future leaders to counter hunger and poverty in their communities. In many locations, a garden-supported school lunch is the only healthy meal of the day and motivates parents to keep their kids in school. SPI programs give vegetable seeds for 20+ vegetable varieties. SPI's partner schools become hubs for providing seed, seedlings, and training to kids' families. With your help, we're growing gardens in 9 countries!

Seeds and Skills for Women to Grow Vegetables

Women & Girls Empowerment

Health & Physical Wellbeing
Education & Technology
Economic Empowerment
Guatemala

We provide vegetable seeds and support so women can grow food! Women farmers produce more than half the developing world's food, yet own less than 2% of land and receive little support - such as seeds, tools, and knowledge. We join with women's gardening efforts in the most impoverished countries worldwide including Madagascar, Guatemala, Liberia, and Kenya. By providing top-quality vegetable seeds and locally-driven support, women can access a path to empowerment, income, and nutrition.

Climate Action
Ethiopia

This project will increase long-term resilience to climate change, social crisis, and political crisis, for communities in East Africa who are most vulnerable to upheaval. We do this by investing in indigenous East African leadership to deliver training and resources: installation of simple, appropriate drought-resistant technology such as water storage, shade nets, and ecological small garden design; and connection of people to good seed, including local seed sources in their region.
