Mission

To attain gender equality in a Ugandan local community through promoting the social, political, educational and economic participation of women and children in community development programs. SCOEN strives to create a future in which all Ugandan women will be viewed and treated equally as men in all aspects of life; political, economic, social, educational and culturally. We will also seek to continue our role as advocates of children and women's rights, promoter of their capacities and driving force of social change, promoting their participation in the decisions that affect their lives, and amplifying their voices for peace and security at the regional, national and global levels.

The initiative aims to construct 5 drain-able girl friendly VIP latrines of 5 stances each with wash room, provide reliable hand washing facility for girls of menstruating age in the five public primary schools in Uganda. To reduce the high pupil to latrines ratio, and provide a separate girls' pit-latrine to avoid risk of harassment and school drop-out, this will ensure school attendance of girls during menstruation and increase the number of girls with qualifications.

Sickle cell anemia is a hereditary incurable defect confined to red blood cells. The basic defect is in the structure of hemoglobin molecule of the red blood cells which acquire sickle like shape in oxygen deficient environment. Due to this effect there is destruction of the cells which could even lead to the death of patients. This disease is now prominent in Teso Sub-Region in Uganda. SCOEN is working for betterment of these patients using HYDROXYUREA TREATMENT recommended to children

Bidi Bidi in Northern Uganda is the largest refugee camp in Africa. Only about 25% of the refugees in the settlements are supplied with sufficient food. But the situation in the host communities is also precarious. Together with other partners we are helping to improve the food situation. This food relief project supports 500 refugee families in need living in Bidi Bidi refugee camp. SCOEN will implement emergent relief to provide rice, beans, posh to the most vulnerable refugee families.

This will involve assisting victims in reporting their cases and fighting their cases in court. Most victims of GBV rarely report their cases because they are not sure of their legal rights or because the justice system refuses to believe victims.
