HALO has been working in Nagorno Karabakh since 2000. We have cleared almost 500 minefields, making land safe and transforming the lives of more than 130,000 people. After the truce of the 2020 war, we have since been removing new explosive hazards in Armenian-controlled territories so that displaced families can return home, and so that children and adults can go about their daily lives safely.

The people of Myanmar have suffered the longest-running civil war in history and are experiencing the devastating triple effects of coup, COVID, and climate crisis. Hundreds of thousands of people have been killed or displaced. Deadly landmines threaten lives, stop farmers from cultivating their land and families from returning home. As IDP figures surpass 1 million, HALO's provision of safe passage through risk education, and provision of sanitation items to tackle COVID, is critical.

Millions of Ukrainians are in the cross hairs of the world's most devastating weapons. In Ukraine, thousands of cluster bombs, artillery shells, and rockets litter the streets that can detonate at any moment. Families are left sheltering in basement and cellars. The HALO Trust has been operating in Ukraine since 2016. We have over 400 staff on the ground in Ukraine working to protect civilians from cluster bombs, landmines, and other deadly explosives, but we need your help.

There have been 580 reported accidents caused by landmines, cluster munitions, and other unexploded ammunition left from the conflict in the late 1990s. Explosive debris continues to litter the countryside, buried in fields and family gardens. This project will fund deminers to clear a minefield in Dimce, Kovoso, benefiting over 160 people in the village. Once cleared, these families can grow crops, gather wood, and live their lives free from the threat of mines.

Nearly 40 years of conflict have left Afghanistan with a deadly legacy of landmines and explosives. Tens of thousands of people have been killed or injured by landmines. Given the current situation, HALO's work is more important than ever. HALO's work plays a crucial role in stabilizing communities in Afghanistan, not only by clearing explosives, but also by providing jobs and valuable skills and training to over 2,500 staff which in turn provides security for their families and dependents.
