Mission

Twins International's projects are carried out to ensure that more and more orphaned or vulnerable children in Kenya have access to school education, vocational trainings and tools to give them a worthy future and escape from the harsh reality of the slums. Particular attention is paid to the fight against HIV/AIDS, ensuring medical care for each of our beneficiaries who have contracted the virus. We are very committed to spread awareness on gender-based violence and thus we stress the need to let our girls have a voice and claim the right to equality, which is all too often denied among the populations of developing countries. Twins International operates directly on projects in Kenya through a lean structure, thanks to a compact and prepared staff and groups of volunteers who help both in Africa and Italy.

Our project creates a high potential clinical service in Nairobi slums for 2500 children and their families affected by the COVID emergency. We provide medical care through home visits with community health workers, nurses, doctors and social workers to assist children in all their needs, especially those with chronic diseases such as HIV and sickle-cell anemia who can't interrupt their treatments, distributing medicines and food packages to ensure the well-being of the whole family.

Girls living in Nairobi slums cannot afford to buy sanitary pads, common hygiene products, they don't have access to adequate and clean toilets. Data suggest that 65% of women in Kenya cannot afford to purchase sanitary pads. During the menstrual period, girls and young women are forced to remain closed in their shacks, unable to go to school. The project will bring hygiene kits to all 340 girls in our schools, gynecological and psychological assistance as well as sexual education and protection
