Ama Ghar Displaced Children Fund
Story
Many children were orphaned or displaced by disastrous 2015 earthquakes in Nepal. Ama Foundation worked with anti-trafficking organizations and the Nepal government to help find these children a safe home. Since 2015, we have taken 30 new children into our home, which can house 75 children - but we currently only have funding for the 46 children who currently live there. Your contribution helps us to take in more children and give them a loving home, an education and a future.
Impact
The long term effect is that we will be able to take in 25 new displaced children and provide them with an education so that they have a bright future - and so that they can become productive citizens of Nepal and the world.
Challenge
Many children in Nepal have been displaced because of earthquake activity, poverty, drug addiction and malnutrition. Some have lost their entire family and become orphans, others have lost the primary breadwinner in their family and can no longer be supported by living relatives. These children are all traumatized and vulnerable; this fund will help to provide them with a safe home at Ama Ghar, where they will receive counseling, medical care, food, education - and most importantly, love.
