Story

The project is build a middle school in Iztapalapa to provide free integral education through 100% scholarships for teenage leaders living in at-risk situations. The first phase is build a classroom and soccer field to start giving sports and arts academies to 30 teenagers who come from the most dangerous and poorest sectors of society in Iztapalapa. We intend to build this middle school to solve the problem of adolescents joining to organized crime, consuming drugs, and school dropout rates.

Impact

What we aim at after identifying and admitting the leaders to middle school, is that with the education we provide them, the problems we mentioned will be solved to a great extent. We not only teach basic subjects, we teach human values, life skills and provide tutoring to accompany them so that they learn that there are other ways to address their risk situations with the use of their leadership. All this forms leaders who stay away from drugs, organized crime and continue their studies.

Challenge

Youth in Iztapalapa living in poverty are highly vulnerable to joining organized crime, dropping out of school, starting work at an early age, falling into drugs and delinquency. About 1000 adolescents are arrested in Iztapalapa for some of the above reasons. They have a common factor and root, the lack of a quality education that not only teaches the basic subjects, but also human values, life skills, human development and the lack of accompaniment to guide their leadership in positive things.
