Story

The Wild Animal Sanctuary provides a home for over 650 Lions, Tigers, Bears, Wolves and other animals - all rescued from horrific captive situations. We need your help so we can continue this important work! There is an abundance, over 9,600 acres, of beautiful, forested land at our new Wild Animal Refuge in southern Colorado. This project will support the development of new large acreage habitats for our rescued animals at the Refuge, providing a forever home for these magnificent animals.

Impact

This project will provide a long-term and sustainable home for the thousands of animals remaining in illegal or abusive situations throughout the United States and around the world. By building and developing habitats at the Refuge, this will allow the Sanctuary to continue to save Captive Wildlife far into the future. These rescued animals will be able to live enriched lives roaming freely within large acreage habitats that are flush with completely natural amenities.

Challenge

The Sanctuary was started 40 years ago with two main purposes. One was to save Lions, Tigers, Bears and other large carnivores that were being euthanized in zoos, as well as being abused and abandoned in the private sector. The second goal was to give them a much better home than was available anywhere in captivity. Since these animals couldn't go back to the wild, it was important for us to commit to providing them with very best home possible.
