Channels of Hope for HIV Facilitator Training
Story
Channels of Hope for HIV Facilitator Training is a seven-day intensive training for people who are working with the vulnerable, marginalised or people affected by HIV or AIDS. Participants are challenged in their thinking, come away with changed perceptions and gain the skills to present Channels of Hope workshops. They leave with the ability to make a positive difference in the HIV and AIDS pandemic. Trainings are conducted in either Russian or English and take place in different countries.
Impact
We have seen an incredible multiplication of knoweldge and compassion as a result of those we have trained. They have gone on to found or join organisations, facilitate many workshops, challenge stigma and spread correct knowledge. In a survey conducted in 2016, 78% of those trained were still active and (when averaged out) had impacted the lives of over 20,000 people each through workshops, personal interactions and other opportunities they found.
Challenge
In many places there is still a lot of ignorance around HIV and AIDS. There is also a lot of stigma. Faith-based communities are vital in seeing this change and should be leading the way. Those attending Channels of Hope for HIV Facilitator training really want to see that change, some are already working in this area, but need further help. Channels of Hope for HIV equips them with knowledge and answers.
