Story

Chicuchas Wasi School for Girls provides free primary education to undervalued and underserved girls from rural families. Project provides: Art, Hygiene, Values, confidence building, daily hot meal and transportation . CW provides academic skills needed for a secure future of economic independence, growth of self-worth, self esteem, gender equality, and prepares female leaders to advance family, community and society with women examples to change outdated beliefs.Girls+Educuation=Societal change

Impact

Educated rural indigenous females prepared for a life of economic security, will end child abandonment & be able to feed their children. Our goal is to prepare leaders to move society to end gender inequality and discrimination of females in Cusco. Prepared female leaders will be able to address abuse and discrimination, and have the personal confidence to stand up to male dominated politicians to end human rights violations against women/girls and change society to one where females are valued

Challenge

Rural girls are often not educated.Gender inequality favors educating boys & girls as domestics. An illiterate female is destined to suffer from hunger, poverty, rape, beatings, human rights violations and inability to care for her children because she is uneducated and unskilled. Often stated: "women have no voice and no vote" and no power over herself or her children to make decisions to change the gender inequality that keeps her impoverished and silent. Girls + Education = economic survival
