Empower 40 Colombian kids in extreme poverty
Story
The project's aim is to improve the psychosocial and life conditions of the children / teenagers welcomed in the "Hogar San Jeronimo" house in Tunja, guaranteeing them fundamental rights, harmonious growth and future autonomy. The projects guarantees these kids psychosocial support as well as an education and training programmes.
Impact
40 children will be able to improve their psycho-physical and social conditions, develop greater confidence in their abilities and acquire professional skills useful for their entry into the world of work. In addition, family relationships will be strengthened and trained mothers will be able to find a job more easily.
Challenge
In Tunja the serious poverty is combined with an incredibly high level of domestic violence against women and the worrying number of children who are forced to spend whole days on the street, in the absence of care and protection. Their loneliness sets them to be helpless victims of acts of violence, sexual abuse, exploitation or prostitution, denying them the right to go to school and grow up in a peaceful environment.
