Empower the next generation of girls in technology
Story

This project empowers young women in Latin America to tackle gender stereotypes around STEM, discover their skills as creators of tech-solutions and become powerful changemakers in their communities. Through a systemic approach that leaves no one behind, and an innovative pedagogical roadmap designed to meet girls wherever they are, this project will enhance the e-learning platform to motivate, train and empower participants throughout their academic and professional pathway into technology.

Impact

Empowering girls and young women to pursue careers in STEM will add nuanced perspectives that will lead to the world's greatest new innovations. Furthermore, in the long term,In the long run, increased opportunities for women in these fields results in greater economic success and equality for women in all areas.

Challenge

Women make up only 30% of the workforce in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) globally, and men vastly outnumber women majoring in STEM fields in college. Gender gaps are too high in the fastest-growing and highest-paid jobs of the future and women face barriers that inhibit their interest, development and permanence in STEM: 89% 10-years-olds feel that they are not good at math; 43% 17-year-olds do not know any women who work in technology; only 6% apps were created by women.
