Fund PostSecondary Education for Girls in Tanzania
Story
Girls Education International is partnering with Project Wezesha, a local NGO, to ensure that young women in Tanzania have access to the education, support, and skills necessary to achieve their dreams and become whatever they desire. In this program, we support young women in their pursuit of education by providing scholarships to those seeking university and vocational training and covering the fees associated with their high school education.
Impact
When a girl completes secondary school she is empowered to seek greater opportunities for herself and eventually her children. She will likely advocate for herself and her family in relation to healthcare and education. With the addition of post-secondary education, she is further empowered to make decisions related to her career, marriage, and family planning. An educated woman contributes to an educated society, so her impact on her community will be profound.
Challenge
Our partner, Project Wezesha, has made great strides in ensuring students excel in secondary school through rigorous study camps and academic support. Now, we are presented with a great challenge: supporting a cohort of bright and motivated young Tanzanian women as they pursue their educational goals at university! The cost of post-secondary education is prohibitive for many families, but it doesn't have to be if we work together.
