Give Support to 800 Syrian Refugee Families
Story
Focus of DKH in the countries of Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon and Turkey is the supply of refugee families, especially outside the camps, and support for host families and communities. Especially now, as winter sets in, people urgently need accommodation, clothing, blankets, stoves, and coal and food.
Impact
With additional funding, the DKH can support the ongoing action, and to also focus on longer-term and long-term support of the beneficiaries. This includes securing livelihoods through income generating activities and vocational education and training, the promotion of school children, health and nutrition consultations.
Challenge
It is one of the largest refugee catastrophes of our time. The war in Syria is in the sixth year in 2017. As a result of continued deteriorating security and supply situation within the country, many Syrians have fled the violence and have searched safe regions of the country or neighboring countries protection. More than 4,8 million people settled in Syria's neighbors Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Egypt. Around three-quarters of the refugees are women and children.
