Help 4000 Odette Victims Have Food, Water, Power
Story

The project intends to help at least 4000 individuals mostly farmers in Talibon Trinidad Bohol, our former project areas damaged by Typhoon Odette (internationally codenamed Rai) last December 16 as they cry for help while scrambling for scarce water, food, electricity, fuel and housing materials. It also seeks to purchase rice and vegetable seedlings, construction materials to rebuild their homes and their community rice milling infrastructure among others as contribution to recovery

Impact

It is expected that communities will not sink deeper into poverty but return if not improved their conditions after the destruction as their homes, farm livelihoods, infrastructures and facilities are restored back. Post-disaster adverse impact such as hunger, diseases and death will be mitigated. Building back better house structures, improved disaster preparations through knowledge and capacity building will increase coping capacities and resiliency and avoid crippling storm aftermaths

Challenge

Victims of Typhoon Odette (Rai) in Central and Southern Philippines continue to scramble for scarce water, food and electricity. Though help pours in trickle, it is insufficient to cover the number of affected. Under pandemic, the lack of food and water may further sicken especially women, children and the elderly. If not addressed soon, hunger and diseases may increase fatalities and aggravate losses and damages. This may affect close to 30 thousand people who need immediate assistance
