Story

Through MALA's national network, there are hundreds of Afghan-Americans from the diaspora communities. Many of their families fled Afghanistan, while many still remain in danger. We have identified one family who have recently relocated to Texas, and are in need urgent financial assistance to secure housing, employment, transportation, and to pay for basic needs such as toiletries, diapers, and legal assistance.

Impact

The U.S. is expecting thousands of refugees to arrive across the country. Through MALA, a non-political and non-theological organization, we can assist these families in creating a new blueprint on life here in the United States. Challenge

The U.S. employed thousands of Afghan citizens as interpreters, translators, cultural advisors, drivers, and more. With the Taliban now in control of Afghanistan, these individuals and their families escaped grave danger, while many of their family members still remain at risk, unable to be evacuated. For so many, their time over two generations in helping the U.S. makes them a target of the Taliban and they are now desperate to find safety for themselves, their families and their future.
