Help Feed Hundreds of Hungry People
Story
Covid-19 has not changed our mission, only our method. The Cuenca Soup Kitchen continues to be committed to providing food to those most in need. Prior to the Covid-19 crisis, the Cuenca Soup Kitchen served hot meals and provided access to clothing and other basic items for Venezuelan refugees. In addition, its Outreach program provided sack lunches for the Ecuadorian working poor. The current pandemic has deepened our challenge.
Impact
The Cuenca Soup Kitchen is committed to providing the most basic needs for sustaining lives in these challenging times. We are dedicated to keeping families alive and together. Our goal is to provide a bridge that will connect as many families as possible to a more stable future.
Challenge
This disease has battered those already at the bottom of the economic ladder. Those who previous had slender resources now find themselves with none. Those who begged in the streets, those who walked here from Venezuela in search of a better life, and the Ecuadorian working poor are all in danger of starvation. No one is spared and in a developing country the numbers are staggering. Current regulations, including bans on gathering and curfews, forced us to find a new model, a new solution.
