Help Poor Rural Girls in Paraguay go to University
Story
A Scholarship Fund will enable Girl Rural Entrepreneurs, graduates of the "Mbaracayu Educational Center", -a financially self-sustaining agro-forestry high school in Paraguay's Mbaracayu Forest Reserve-, to get a university education and overcome poverty.
Impact
Six months after graduation from university, at least 1 girl/year will have a good job in agro-forestry or have started her own rural enterprise.
Challenge
Currently, 48 girls from poor, rural backgrounds have almost completed 3 rigorous years of environmental science education and entrepreneurial skill building at the Mbaracayu Educational Center, and are looking ahead to figure out their opportunities for the future, including going to University. However, this is a tough goal for many of them to accomplish, as they do not have the financial means to pay for University or due to family pressure to support their household and help generate income.
