Children's heart disease is the most common birth defect globally, and 90% of children born in developing countries have limited access to the care they need to lead normal, healthy lives. Labored breathing and lack of energy keep these children from attending school and just being kids. MEDRIX bridges this disconnect by sponsoring life-changing heart surgeries in Vietnam and supporting families awaiting surgery at Hue Central Hospital by providing food, transportation, and lodging.

Impact

Heart surgery not only allows kids born with heart defects to be kids again; it enables them to succeed later in life by giving them the chance to attend or finish school. Healthy hearts allow them to learn and grow alongside other children and give them the opportunity to thrive and give back to their communities in Vietnam. To date MEDRIX, in partnerships such as yours has sponsored 118 heart surgeries, changing the face of health and hope in Vietnam for generations to come.

Challenge

In remote areas of Vietnam, heart defects and deficiencies are especially devastating to children, who walk or bike to school. Their heart problems keep them from getting an education, making friends, and enjoying childhood. Adequate medical care is too expensive and far away for families living in remote villages. MEDRIX hopes to bring health and hope back to Vietnamese families by sponsoring life-changing heart surgeries as well as providing resources to their family while they recuperate.
