Off-grid Eco-friendly Woodland Classroom
Story
Help us to build an off-grid, woodland cabin... a classroom, volunteer base, green crafts workshop and community space. Through a collaboration with the Carpenter's Fellowship, members of the community will have the chance to help with the build, which celebrates the completion of 10 years of tree planting, seeing 10,000 trees planted by 10,000 children from 30 local schools. This project will allow the charity to offer all-seasons nature-based activities and train a new generation of foresters.
Impact
By building this facility, the charity will be able to grow beyond its current operational level. People will have had enjoyable experiences, developed skills, gained an improved sense of wellbeing, engaged in outdoor nature-based activities, volunteered, gained an appreciation for nature, learned to reduce their environmental impact, understood how local actions have global consequences, changed their attitudes & been empowered to lead their community towards a more eco-conscious lifestyle.
Challenge
There has never been a greater need for environmental stewardship & climate action. Working with all our local schools, our vision offers a new way of providing environmental education for every child. Community & school consultations both reached the same conclusion: that the lack of a classroom & volunteer base handicaps the work of the charity & its vision. Every community needs a facility like this close-by, helping people connect to nature, learn new skills & feel empowered to take action.
