Preventing school dropout of 300 children in India
Story
This project would prevent school dropout of 300 children from poverty stricken families, for children residing in and around the redlight areas of Turbhe and Ghatkopar thereby eliminating the risks of second generation trafficking and improving their higher education and employment potential.
Impact
This project will ensure 300 children continue their education every year and equip themselves to become positive contributors to society.
Challenge
A study by the NCPCR (India) has revealed that the children of sex workers face abuse and discrimination, which results in them facing stigma in the society. Most of these children attend schools with limited resources, leading to poor learning outcomes. Parental neglect and inability, the lack of a responsible father figure and the prevailing anti-social influence in a redlight area negatively impact the worldview and value system of these children.
