RECEADIT Mbam Community Health Care Project
Story

There is simply no health care facility in this Mbam community with very difficult, challenging roads and transportation system and sick members of the community, especially the elderly, expecting mothers and infants, have to walk or be transported on Indian bamboo stretchers to where a motor cycle can then transport them to the nearest health care facility ten to twenty miles away. Expecting mothers do not have to walk 10 to 20 miles to get prenatal care and to give birth to their baby safely.

Impact

Your donation will: 1) literally save lives; 2) provide focused medical training and employment for three medical personnel (one nurse, one midwife and one medical laboratory technician) from this community; 3) assist in the construction of a permanent, health care facility in this remote, rural Community of Mbam; and 4) enable the people of Mbam to improve and increase their farming productivity. A healthy population ensures increased farming activity, improved rural economy, health and life.

Challenge

Many people within Mbam, especially the elderly, expecting mothers and infants, have no access to basic health care services and many are dying in this remote, difficult-to-reach rural community from very easily treatable illnesses/diseases, such as malaria, infected wounds, cough, childbirth etc. The main problem is lack of sustained and dependable access to medical services. Expecting mothers don't have to walk for 20 miles to gain access to prenatal care and give birth to their baby safely.
