Regenerate the Amazon!
Story

Our goals are simple: planting native trees on deforested lands in the Peruvian Amazon and protecting pristine acres of rainforest - while generating long-term sustainability by empowering local communities through diversified agroforestry systems. We work with native species in forest-imitating agroforestry polyculture planting systems - never monocultures. And we work with native communities to maximize socio-economic impacts. The right trees in the right places with the right people.

Impact

Our long-term impact includes the preservation of keystone endangered tree species for the benefit of future generations, as well as generating sustainable livelihoods for local Amazonian communities for decades to come. Planting native species in agroforestry systems is one of the most effective ways to build biodiversity and improve soil fertility which supports long-term forest conservation and the protection of endangered species from extinction. Our programs grow income by growing trees.

Challenge

Forests are in danger. The Amazon rainforest is the largest tropical rainforest on Earth and one of the most biodiverse places on our planet. Tragically, this treasure is being destroyed at an alarming rate. Tambopata is Peru's biodiversity capital but is affected by migratory agriculture, illegal gold mining, and timber harvesting. Our region has lost almost half its original forest cover since 1960, with more than 20% destroyed between 1990 and 2010.
