Story

In Kasese District, and the Rwenzori region of Uganda, hundreds of vulnerable children and women are living in camps with no food, clean water, shelter and hygiene facilities after losing everything they had to floods. Joy for Children Uganda (JFCU) is working to restore their lives. By donating to this cause, you will not only impact on the lives of 100,000 children, women and men affected by floods and at risk of being abused but also prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Impact

Supporting the hundreds of thousands of families who have been forced into overcrowded camps, churches and schools in Kasese district, Uganda by rising floodwater-from rivers busting their banks during the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing is not possible in these camps, and families have no food, hygiene materials, nowhere to go and do the protection. We are creating a safe place for these vulnerable communities free from hunger, abuse and protection against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Challenge

Imagine your home, crops and other properties being destroyed by floods, in the same period your trying to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. A second wave of floods have destroyed many villages in Kasese district, Uganda, as River Nyamwamba and several other rivers burst their banks. The disaster committee report 123,800 people, with women and children from over 24,760 households having been affected - lost homes, crops and many properties, now living in camps and at risk of COVID19, malaria etc.
