Self-Sufficient Haiti through Vocational Training
Story
With your help, Little Footprints Big Steps will provide up to 20 youth with Vocational Training so they can become the self-sufficient, self-empowered new generation breaking the cycle of poverty - with skills, training, opportunity and hope! Sewing, Office Technology, English language, Masonry, Window Repair, Carpentry, Food preparation, Mechanics, Plumbing, Welding, Solar Panel building and other training is available. Change a life. Change the future.
Impact
This project, vocational skills training, will be the turning point toward self-sufficiency, toward self-determination. Up to 20 youth will be enrolled in training, ranging from 3 months to 1 year. The impact will be realized by not only the individual taking the training, but the family, friends and community they live in. Now and into the future. Education is forever. Opportunity can make it happen. This is how real change occurs. One person at a time. Help us break the cycle of poverty.
Challenge
Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Through years of natural disasters and corruption, both from within and from outside, generations of Haitians have become 'stuck' in a cycle of poverty. 80% of the population lives below the poverty line, on less than $2/day. Lack of education, self-determination, and opportunity have further entrenched this way of life. By providing skills training, this cycle CAN be broken.
