Send 3 Indigenous Women to College in Guatemala
Story
Para Adelante helps empower underprivileged, indigenous women in Guatemala, who have overcome domestic abuse, by providing the funding and support to attain a college education which will benefit them as well as their families and communities.
Impact
The project will educate indigenous women and help them break the cycle of poverty. They then will be able to provide for their families' health and well-being. Educated women focus on educating their children, become role models in their villages, and benefit their community's economy.
Challenge
Due to the 36-year long civil war in Guatemala, many indigenous communities live in abject poverty. As a result, women rarely have the opportunity to go to college or are forced to drop out due to insufficient funds. Para Adelante provides scholarship funds, mentoring, and tutoring to help these women break the cycle of poverty and become an asset to their families and communities.
