Soap Making Project
Story

The project aims to teach displaced women and vulnerable families how to create cold process hands soap-making businesses. By empowering women to create their own business, and to help fill a basic hygiene need for displaced persons, the soap making project will positively impact the lives of those impacted by continued conflict in Darfur. Under soap-making training including entrepreneur's skills and activities, women will be able to strengthen their economic power to earn steady income.

Impact

Investing in displaced and disadvantaged families with a focus on women and children will improve their security and livelihood. Family-owned small-scale sustainable projects will enable our beneficiaries to earn sustainable sources of income, and further the participation of women from Darfur and the wider region in economic and social development projects. As families earn income through their business, children will not be required to search for work every day; instead, children can focus on

Challenge

Beneficiaries of this project include internally displaced women and vulnerable families who are affected by conflict in Darfur, west Sudan. The program targets women and children whose lives have been negatively impacted by decades of conflict in Darfur. They have struggled with dire living conditions and left with no choice but to live in crowded camps and scattered settlements. The majority of the internally displaced people in Darfur are women and children. In addition to challenges with me
