Sponsorship enables the poorest children to take part in all aspects of the OSCAR football, education & life skills programmes. Participation creates the foundation for change, for the individual, their family, community & future generations. OSCAR children live very challenging lives, which makes them vulnerable to negative external influences. Child sponsorship plays a vital part in ensuring no OSCAR children slip through the net. This project is at the heart of OSCAR's work & you can help.

Impact

Child Sponsorship is a proven long term solution to the systemic problem of underprivileged children not attending school. Uneducated parents are forced to address short term needs by sending kids out to earn money or look after siblings & not to school. Sponsorship puts the emphasis on education & sport. Engaging with OSCAR children grow in confidence & aspiration, make their family proud, become role models & inspire the wider community. Younger siblings attend school and so the cycle changes.

Challenge

Thousands of children live in poverty in India without the support they need to survive & thrive in their communities. Recent school closures has exacerbated the problem, poor children do not have access to online education & forced to go out to do poorly paid work. Girls are particularly badly affected, with uneducated parents opting for an illegal child marriage, which inevitably leads to youth pregnancy. This project aims to provide the safety net for 100 at-risk children & their family.
