This project will support 13,000 residents of the remote Neknot and its three neighboring villages in the Panjakent District of Tajikistan by enhancing their access to quality healthcare. It will improve the water supply, sanitation system, and physical infrastructure, including infrastructure friendly for persons with disabilities in the village health center. The health center has been operative since 1974 with no major repair since its inception. Your generosity today can change many lives.

Impact

By upgrading the facilities at the hospitals, rural residents from remote areas will have access to timely and life-saving medical care. Doing so will prevent nosocomial transmission and preventable deaths, it will narrow the gap in quality of life between the rural and urban communities in Tajikistan. The improved physical infrastructure and equipment will motivate the doctors to provide quality services and ensure sustainability in the healthcare system in rural areas and help achieve SDG3.

Challenge

The Healthcare Centre in Neknot Village was constructed back in 1974 and has not witnessed any major repair since then. It is the only place of hope for 13,000 residents of the Neknot and its three neighboring villages in terms of access to healthcare. The healthcare budget covers the staff's miserable salary only leaving very small to no resources for maintenance. Currently, the health centre lacks basic conditions to ensure quality health services in its area of coverage.
