Story
By boosting productive entrepreneurships of decorative items, bakery, water purification filters and wood saving stoves, indigenous tseltal women of Ch'ol, Selva Alta and T'uliha regions will be able to provide their families a better healthcare, home and income conditions, that enhance their possibilities to continue to build a dignified way of life.
Impact
It will strengthen social ties & generate economic resilience strategies, which will reduce existing vulnerability conditions & will allow sustainable community development. From the reinforcement of ties and lessons learned, they can have greater self-management skills.
Challenge
Chilon and Ocosingo are among the 15 places in Mexico with the highest number of people living in extreme poverty . Indigenous groups suffer a low quality of life due to a series of structural factors that negatively feed each other, including inadequate access to basic services -mainly water, education, communication media & deficient or lack of food security and precarious health. Low educational level and the scarcity of decent sources of employment in the region.
