Technology Drive for impoverished kids in Ethiopia
Story
Summary: This campaign is to open a research library for underprivileged students who have no access to devices or the internet. Our goal is to provide support for students who lack the technology necessary to pursue academic interests and higher education. Through the creation of a research library, we provide students with an opportunity to explore and research whatever they may be passionate about, so that they may in turn go on to lead in their respective fields.
Impact
The library will help in providing support for students who previously had no resources. The library can promote pursuing academic interests and furthermore a desire to continue higher education through support of the resources provided by the library and Caleb Foundation. This way, we can send more students to chase their scholarly goals and passions. Let us make sure no kids are left behind due to poverty and lack of computer access. Thank you for your help.
Challenge
Tertiary education for most students in developing nations is an afterthought. The idea of going to college to pursue academic interests is unfeasible for many students in poverty because of the lack of support and resources to do so. Currently, only 8.1% of students in Ethiopia are enrolled in tertiary education. Compare that to the 66.2% of students enrolled in college in the United States. The difference lies in the number of resources made available to students in Ethiopia versus in the USA.
