Terminally ill children in isolation need you
Story
This project will help Rainbow Trust Children's Charity to continue providing emotional and practical support to life-threatened or seriously ill children and their families who, in the current coronavirus crisis, are facing their already difficult day-to-day becoming the impossible. We want to be able to continue supporting the 2,500 vulnerable families we currently help. We can only continue to do all this if we have money to fund it.
Impact
As recognised key workers our Family Support Workers are relieving the strain on health services, bridging the gap between hospital and home. Helping the life-threatened children and their families will ensure that, in these completely unimaginable times, families whose life has already been turned upside down can still benefit from the tailored and unique support that only Rainbow Trust provides.
Challenge
Amongst our most vulnerable beneficiaries are families with children undergoing cancer treatment, organ transplant patients and others with compromised immune systems. Many are classed as some of the most at-risk people who have been told to self-isolate for 12 weeks to shield themselves from being exposed to the virus. For these families, any other means of support they had available to them has disappeared. Life-threatened children and their families are in isolation struggling to cope.
