Mexico

Our ongoing general campaign funds work organizing Indigenous women to develop and lead their own network of collectives and local economic and social projects. 83% of women partners demand this kind of training on how to collaborate to make a direct impact and more access to information and communication technology. For democratic nations like Mexico, our unique model empowering citizens to solve their own problems is the way forward for sustainable local community development.

Mexico

This project mobilizes Indigenous women artisans from more than 35 communities to build four cooperatives (co-ops) we call the "Sierra Madre Network" ("Red Sierra Madre"), selling regional textiles and other locally sourced products to external markets while also practicing economic solidarity with neighbors and leading community impact projects.

COVID-19
Mexico

According to the UNDP, Mexico is extremely vulnerable to COVID-19. 41.9% of its population already lives at or below the national poverty line. In the rural, indigenous areas in which we work, this number is 86%. With sanitary measures in place until a vaccine is found, indigenous people, especially women, suffer disproportionately. This project uses short-and medium-term micro-economic and nutrition activities to empower, educate and sustain indigenous families in these uncertain times.

In rural Mexico, women are central to society but not supported. They are constrained by social and economic inequality, scant communication tools, human rights violations, and abandonment. Our work empowers indigenous women to lead change in their communities. In Mexico, however, organizations like PSYDEH helping these women lack resources as well as the expertise on securing these resources. This campaign provides PSYDEH what it needs to continue our impact-making work.

In rural Mexico, women are central to society but not supported. They are constrained by social and economic inequality, scant communication tools, human rights violations, and abandonment. Our work empowers indigenous women to lead change in their communities. This campaign funds micro-impact activities that are developed and led by our partners' groups. Our goal is that women be the leaders and business women they are, and are seen by peers as having an impactful voice in their communities.
