This project will help to reduce hunger and food insecurity among farmers. In Nigeria, about 3.7 million people, across16 states, are food insecure. Several factors have driven this. These include civil conflicts, large-scale displacement, rising food prices, climate change, natural resource degradation, poverty and population growth. About 9 out of 10 Nigerians cannot afford a healthy diet. The COVID-19 pandemic has worsened the hunger situation, particularly impacting food supply and price.

According to UNESCO, 1 out of 10 girls in Africa miss school during their menstrual period and eventually drop out. In Nigeria, sanitary pads costs an average of $1.30 per pack, while most families live below the poverty threshold of $1.20 per day. The high cost of sanitary pads in Nigeria have made them inaccessible for poor girls. In some situations, girls face sexual abuse in their quest for money to buy sanitary pads. SOHF aims to curb this ugly trend and reinforce the confidence in them.

Mental illness affects people of all ages, education, income levels, and cultures; however, systemic inequalities such as racism, poverty, homelessness, discrimination, colonial and gender-based violence, among others, can worsen mental health and symptoms of mental illness, especially if mental health supports are difficult to access. Major depression affects approximately 5.4% of the Southeast population.

This project will assist the aged living with dementia. About one-third of all people age 85 or older may have some form of dementia, but it is not a normal part of aging. Many people live into their 90s and beyond without any signs of dementia. There are several different forms of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease. As many as 7% of adults aged 60 and older suffer from dementia. Along with problems with memory, language, and decision-making abilities.

In this project, our primary interest is in toilets for low-income communities, and in defecation use. Pay-per-use public toilets are most commonly seen in public locations, but may also be constructed in low-income residential areas, serving both residential and transient users. One in three people across the world don't have a decent toilet of their own. But it's not just a question of lacking a household toilet - low availability of public and community toilets is also an issue.

The crisis in the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector extends to institutions, 50 per cent of all rural communities and schools in IMO STATE do not have basic water supply and sanitation facilities while 50 per cent of health care facilities lack clean water and 88 per cent of them lack basic sanitation. Nearly 60 thousand children die before they start school from diseases caused by poor levels of access to WASH.

In Southeast, an estimated one in three women experienced physical or sexual abuse in her lifetime. Samonyemaechi is committed to addressing gender-based violence through investment, research and learning, and collaboration with stakeholders . SOHF will launch an intensive program of education in 20 rural communities and schools to understand and prevent sexual violence.

The project will provide them: ENTREPRENEURIAL EDUCATION, 300 DOLLARS IN SEED MONEY, MENTORING ON THEIR MICROBUSINESSES and 9 MONTHS OF FOOD SUPPLIES. The food supplies will relieve the women and their children of the humanitarian crisis caused by the pandemic. Empowerment and increased self esteem are other benefits.

This project will engage rural communities in planting trees and minimize the use of fossil fuels, and focus on developing alternative sources of energy that are clean and sustainable. We will focus on both carbon emissions reduction and carbon removal with our biochar program. We will reach out to small farmers in rural areas and show them a better way to handle their crop waste. It will increase awareness towards reducing global warming, to give our earth a chance to heal and rebalance.
