Malaria is the biggest killer of man. Every 2 minutes a child dies from malaria. Until there is a cure prevention is the only way to save lives. The Butterfly Tree runs a successful malaria prevention program in remote communities in Zambia, providing mosquito nets, a safe insecticide coating for the inside of houses, and larvicide granules to prevent the larva from developing into mosquitos when placed in the breeding grounds. These interventions can save the lives of vulnerable children.

Thousands of rural children must walk several miles each way to get to school, women draw from rivers and streams. In October temperatures soar to over 40 degrees C (100 degrees F), and no rain has fallen since April, resulting in food supplies being depleted. Children walk to school without breakfast, relying on a school feeding program, which could be there only meal of the day.
