Mission

The Mustard Seed Mission, Taiwan is the 1st registered local social welfare organization in the country. We have been serving the Taiwanese citizens' needs for more than 60 years. *Our Vision: The mustard seed is the smallest of all seeds. When it grows, it becomes an enormous tree that birds fly to and perch on its branches. (From the Bible) *Our Mission: Based on the faith and hope of the mustard seed, the Mustard Seed Mission (MSM) provides child care services, holistic youth development, and supportive family service networks. It restores family functions, so that love and righteousness can be passed down from generation to generation.

Taiwan is one of the countries at high risk of disasters such as earthquakes, typhoons, and floods. The Mustard Seed Mission devotes to build a community disaster prevention support network that promotes disaster prevention knowledge, conducts drills and training to community people in order to build a resilient community to minimize disasters damages. Since 2021, disaster preparedness storage hubs for disaster-prone remote tribal communities are built to achieve disaster preparedness.

In Taiwan, there are 1.6 million populations a year suffering from hunger! Yet, more than 100 tons of food are thrown away. The Mustard Seed Mission has established community food banks all over Taiwan and the main goal is to reduce food waste and end hunger. The food bank network receives donated food from the locals and companies and delivers the resources to the nearby families in need and communities. It helps donated food to be efficiently distributed and utilized!

This project assists vulnerable students in Cambodia, India, Nepal, and Malaysia to continue their studies in higher education (collegiate institutions) to obtain academic qualifications and certificates, so as to increase the advantages of vulnerable young people and eliminate poverty in the future.

60 children live in MSM children's homes in New Taipei City and Hualien. They are mainly from dysfunctional families with issues like poverty, abuse, and abandonment, etc. They often suffer from trauma and low self-esteem. This project provides a safe environment to them and striving to equip them for future life; helping them to discover their own potentials and find out their own advantages via self-reliant training, character-building course, and mental health counseling.
