Mission

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) works in 190 countries and territories to put children first. UNICEF has helped save more children's lives than any other humanitarian organization, by providing health care and immunizations, clean water and sanitation, nutrition, education, emergency relief and more. UNICEF USA supports UNICEF's work through fundraising, advocacy and education in the United States. Together, we are working toward the day when no children die from preventable causes and every child has a safe and healthy childhood. For more information, visit www.unicefusa.org.

Ukraine

With the acceleration of conflict in Ukraine, the number of people in humanitarian need has increased dramatically, with an estimated 12 million people in need of urgent support, including around 2.1 million children. As the conflict escalates, so do the needs of children and families. UNICEF's priority is to urgently scale up emergency preparedness and response across the country and wider region in order to meet the growing needs of children and families, including those on the move.

The sheer number of refugees has overwhelmed pre-existing refugee camps, with new arrivals seeking shelter anywhere they can find space. A total of 720,000 children - both from new arrivals in Bangladesh, existing Rohingyas and those in vulnerable host communities - are in need of urgent humanitarian assistance,
