Help Cambodians end family and community violence
Story
We believe a culture of peace starts from the everyday lives, hearts, and minds of people at the grassroots. In 2022, we will partner with 200 people, with a focus on women from minority and Cambodian forest communities, to develop their capacity to stop cycles of violence and be catalysts of positive change in their communities. This project builds on years of grassroots peacebuilding work, adding extra emphasis on gender equity, family reconciliation, and environmental stewardship.
Impact
Since 2003, Peace Bridges Organization has positively influenced the lives of almost 5,000 peacebuilders. Our vision is that peacebuilders will not only transform their families and communities, but also spread these values of peace, reconciliation, human dignity, and environmental stewardship to their communities and wider society.
Challenge
The widespread inability to effectively manage conflict is a significant challenge in Cambodia where people deal with the aftermath of war and the pressures of rapid development. A lack of everyday peace in the daily lives of Cambodians through ingrained values, attitudes, and habits and systemic violence. This is especially seen in the ongoing problem of violence within families and communities, and damaging conflicts within and between people, communities, development actors, and leaders.
