This project will provide emergency relief to 200 families affected by COVID-19 and hunger. Recent lockdown measures in Cambodia have aggravated disparities and caused a food security crisis. As of 29 April 2021, Cambodians were ordered to stay home and those who lived in "Red Zones" were prohibited from leaving except to seek medical care. Many people who formerly subsisted on meager wages are now without work. They are in need of food and basic necessities in order to support their families.

We believe a culture of peace starts from the everyday lives, hearts, and minds of people at the grassroots. In 2022, we will partner with 200 people, with a focus on women from minority and Cambodian forest communities, to develop their capacity to stop cycles of violence and be catalysts of positive change in their communities. This project builds on years of grassroots peacebuilding work, adding extra emphasis on gender equity, family reconciliation, and environmental stewardship.

Peace Bridges will partner with Buddhist monks, a local forest group, and Christian pastors to organize tree plantings in their villages and community forests. This is a unique opportunity for Cambodians of all faiths and backgrounds to cooperate and restore areas that have been deforested. The goals of this project are to plant 5,000 native trees, engage and educate youth and faith groups about the environment, and mitigate the global threat of climate change. This project will equip and train 50 Prey Lang Community Network (PLCN) members with smartphones to document forest crimes in the Prey Lang forest. Prey Lang is one of the last remaining large lowland forests in Cambodia. It is quickly shrinking due to widespread illegal logging. The PLCN will patrol the forest and document the location and details of the crime with the smartphones. They will use this data to advocate for forest protection on social media and at national and global events.
