With emerging of COVID-19 coupled with traditional issues that marginalized girls and women across the globe including Bangladesh from March 2020; the vulnerability of girls and women has increased to the greatest extent. This was confirmed from a mini research that was conducted by DDEF from February to September, 2020; when it registered 20 girls for its designed program on Home Economics; 50% only reported on the 30/9/2020 and the balance of 50% dropped out because of those.

The wildlife trade is a multi-billion dollar industry that threatens endangered species' survival and human health as zoonotic diseases such as COVID-19 emerge. Bangladesh is both a wildlife source and transit country, and illegal trafficking was rampant in 2001 when the Wildlife Rapid Rescue Team (WRRT) was established to crack down on the trade. To date, WRRT has rescued over 69,000 live animals, apprehended over 7,700 traders, and confiscated large quantities of animal parts and contraband.

DDEF is launching a new campain to support 300 vulnerable and poor families with meat during Qurbani 2021 in Barguna district of Bangladesh. Meat will be distributed in a healthy and hygiene way. The key objectives of this initiatives is to share the blessings of Qurbani with the needy community.

The goal of the DDEF is to unite recovery resources with community needs in order to ensure that even the most vulnerable in the community recover from the disaster.

Covid-19 has definitely changed the way Rescuing Leftover Cuisine operates, but not a single week in 2020 has passed without food being rescued across the nation. On the contrary, we have provided over 1,224 meals every single week since August. As we prepare for the winter and a potential second wave of Covid-19, our mission is more important than ever before. Solve food waste and hunger one plate at a time!
